FiTZ This album feels like that last week of holiday by the sea. It has that melancholy of when you realize the best time of your life coming to an end but you know you'll remember it fondly for all the fun it was. There's sadness in the lyrics, but also acceptance, & so much warmth & color in the music that lulls you like the hum of the waves. There's plently of fun & joy, too, some tongue-in-cheek playfulness that makes me think of Frank Zappa or Ariel Pink. Quite simply, an all-around fun album. Favorite track: Patchouli.

Patchouli 05:24
Well, she's into mandalas and eastern religion And the one thing she's plagued with is indecision And she rides on the summer breeze And she only takes what she needs Living a life so free that everybody else is too scared to lead And she smells like patchouli and Northfield lights And she's keeping me warm on these winter nights She'll be gone in the morning, but she stays in my memory As the smell of patchouli The smell of patchouli Well, she's got no good reason to stay in this rainy town Cause she follows the seasons, she follows the summer down And she longs for the emerald seas and the sun shining through the trees Waiting so patiently to feast her eyes on something that she hasn't seen And she smells like patchouli and Northfield lights And she's keeping me warm on these winter nights She'll be gone in the morning, but she stays in my memory As the smell of patchouli The smell of patchouli Love her while you can cause you might never get the chance to say goodbye She don't need anyone by her side She flies by night, let her out of your sight And she'll find someone else to believe in Turn around and she's leaving And she smells like patchouli and Northfield lights And she's keeping me warm on these winter nights She'll be gone in the morning, but she stays in my memory As the smell of patchouli The smell of patchouli

Cancer 03:54
Well, I guess she’s gone And I guess the second time was the charm Every time we fall apart We go back to the start again This time, there’s conditions But something is missing, oh no I couldn’t promise much to you Knew we’d never say ‘I Do’ Should I buy flowers and bring them to your door? Could we please just enjoy this without it being more? ‘Cause i’m not ready for love And push has come to shove I don’t need you answer Guess I was the cancer Growing on what’s left of us again Well, I guess she’s pretty And the deal is shitty, I know Sorry that I’m letting go I’m heartbroken even so Wish we could stay friendly But for our sake I just don’t think thats right You know I love to change my mind But I won’t back down this time Should I buy flowers and bring them to your door? Could we please just enjoy this without it being more? ‘Cause i’m not ready for love And push has come to shove I don’t need you answer Guess I was the cancer Growing on what’s left of us again Is this another love I’ve sabotaged? Or was this sea of loving really a mirage? If I see you in the street Our eyes will never meet Here’s a lesson to be learned A barrage of calls won’t be returned Sorry you had to get burned again Should I buy flowers and bring them to your door? Could we please just enjoy this without it being more? ‘Cause i’m not ready for love And push has come to shove I don’t need you answer Guess I was the cancer Growing on what’s left of us again

I could say I’m sorry Eat every single word If I’m here tomorrow It ain’t the worst you’ve heard You can take the box down From the highest You can drink the potion Don’t take it all for yourself Oh yeah You don’t know what you’re doing to me Oh yeah Why do we love like this? If that’s what you think it is Cause it’s not right to be living a lie And it hurts because it’s true If it don’t come easy And you don’t believe me Then I ain’t got much to say to you I could take you with me Everywhere I go If you needed something I’d be the first to know You can take the box down Off of the highest shelf You can drink the potion Don’t take it all for yourself Oh yeah You don’t know what you’re doing to me Oh yeah Why do we love like this? If that’s what you think it is Cause it’s not right to be living a lie And it hurts because it’s true If it don’t come easy And you don’t believe me Then I ain’t got much to say to you

Many will come into the world today Many will come into the world And some will draw their final breath To make room for the boys and girls Many will go back to the earth today Many will go back to the earth Born to complete this circle of life They took it for what it’s worth And may that circle be unbroken One door closes, another one opens Whatever has been left unspoken Has a new chance to be said today I think I’ll stay in my bed today Lay down Lay down my weary head Many will come into their own today Many will come into their own Blindly walk towards the light And into the great unknown Many will go back on their word today Many will go back on their word Mouth their thoughts so silently So that none of them will be heard They won’t last once the torch is passed A stone is cast into the sea Staring down at your empty hands Asking ‘what did you leave for me, my friend?’ It’s far too late to be playing pretend with me Are you too blind to see? Lay down your weary head Many will, many will come into the world today Many will, many will come into the world today Many will, many will come into the world today Many will, many will come into the world today

Keep Talking 03:01
I do best with my mouth closed So that nobody will know All the pain I hold inside Gotta hide Gotta hide Don’t think I don’t want you around Until the day that my strength is found Till it’s found Keep talking about the things you like I’ll pay a visit to my psych Anyways searching in my mind For a peace I’ll never find Tell me will I ever change? Ever change Ever change I’m hiding it under a smile But I’m thinking it might take a while Take a while Keep talking about the things you do I’d be happier if I were you Keep talking about the things you need At least you got your sanity

If time is money, could you spare a dime for my fund? Under the mattress, hid away from everyone Another year has passed, a sinking sun to the west If I was honest, I’d have said I tried my best Now is the winter of our discontent At the eleventh hour to repent But don’t worry boy, your time just hasn’t come yet If strong is silent, why’s that type no good anymore? Give your opinion, or they’ll show you your way to the door ‘Sharing is caring’ is great, if you’ve got extra to give Accepting charity is not the way that I live Now is the winter of our discontent At the eleventh hour to repent But don’t worry boy, your time just hasn’t come yet But I’ve seen the telltale signs And I’ve read between the lines Tried to walk the path of the divine To no avail Oh, no avail No avail, no avail Now is the winter of our discontent At the eleventh hour to repent But don’t worry boy, your time just hasn’t come yet

Simple Life 04:00
Ain’t it good to know we’re all just fools in love? Ain’t it good to know it’s just a game? When it all comes crashing down There’s somebody else to blame Ain’t it a relief that it won’t last too long? Aren’t you overjoyed our days are few? Can’t you feel that raging flame Burning under your backside like I do? Why do you think I’m gonna care for you? I can barely look after myself I’m a little bit scared of you And I’m probably bad for you health Girl, we only got so much time Is it really such a crime to want a simple life? It’s a simple life Ain’t it good to know that it’s an evil world? Might as well get up and join the fun Abandon all hope for humanity And stake out your place in the sun What’s the use in clinging to this stupid scene? Tell me, what’s the point of feeling blue? Suiting up in Sunday best For a ride down the avenue Why do you think I’m gonna care for you? I can barely look after myself I’m a little bit scared of you And I’m probably bad for you health Girl, we only got so much time Is it really such a crime to want a simple life? It’s a simple life It’s a simple life Why do you think I’m gonna care for you? I can barely look after myself I’m a little bit scared of you And I’m probably bad for you health Girl, we only got so much time Is it really such a crime to want a simple life? Ain’t it good to know the answer? Fools in love

She's Loved 03:15
I confess she’s loved She’s the only one I’m thinking of I would be a fool to ever let her go I’ve been around I’m alone and sad My intentions really aren’t that bad Why you call me over just to bring you down I’ll never know She’s in love Only for the second time Baby, for right now that’s fine Got this weight on your shoulders I’ll help you to carry If you carry mine She’s in love For the second time around Only one I’ve ever found When I go off the rails, yeah She never fails to put me back on the ground I’m a mess like you She ain’t happy with the shit I do Long as I still love you why do you care If I mess around But it’s strange to me If I’m happy with my little B Why am I so afraid of ever settling down? She’s in love Only for the second time Baby, for right now that’s fine Got this weight on your shoulders I’ll help you to carry If you carry mine She’s in love For the second time around Only one I’ve ever found When I go off the rails, yeah She never fails to put me back on the ground

Easy 04:38
Baby, we’re young and afraid and forgotten You know we’re allowed to fall And I’ll be your man Reach for my hand if you do Riding the tide is alright in this life The universe cares for her own Yeah, but you don’t understand She’s got it all planned out for you So give me my golden crown Every day the sun comes shining down If you want to you can stick around Baby you just don’t realize We got it so damn easy now The older you’re getting The less that you care You’re coming into your own And it don’t bother me if I might not be the same No need to try all that hard anymore We’ve got everything that we need And if you don’t need much You’re way ahead of the game So give me my golden crown Every day the sun comes shining down If you want to you can stick around Baby you just don’t realize We got it so damn easy now Now Now

Unusual 04:58
I don’t have the right To complain much about this life Taking every day in stride Is it worth living? And when I feel this way They convince me I’m OK But on the judgement day I won’t be forgiven Maybe I just think too much Always feel like I’m in a rush Ass-backwards and out of touch And unusual Unusual Let it go Let it fall right to the ground Everything that’s lost can still be found And everything is alright Maybe someday I’ll be proud Of being unusual Unusual Unusual If we took our daily trials Threw them all in one big pile Took someone else’s for a while To see what they’re hiding I’d probably want mine back And hopefully I’d find That i’m not too out of line I can let those colours shine Maybe I just think too much Always feel like I’m in a rush Ass-backwards and out of touch And unusual Unusual Let it go Let it fall right to the ground Everything that’s lost can still be found And everything is alright Maybe someday I’ll be proud Of being unusual Unusual Unusual

about

Our sister label KEATS//COLLECTIVE recently put out what is arguably one of the best releases in their catalogue. That was Solitaire's "Delayed Pleasure" EP.

Adam Wawzonek is the man behind that project, and also the man behind the now defunct Nouveau Cliche.

Along with being a synth-god, Adam Wawzonek has been developing a unique, intelligent, and polished jangle-pop project. Formerly known as Timesuck, he has rebranded the project as "Wazonek".
