Well, my heart’s in the hands of the company
Probably will so long as I’m alive
She fills my days up with purpose and the means to survive
I get by alright on my ownsome
One back to clothe, to feed, but one mouth
And I’ll prove my allegiance with the fruits of my labour
And the sweat on my brow

Cause I’ve got a roof and food on the table
Each morning I’ll rise and walk out the door
And I will toil until I’m unable to toil no more
I will show up and fulfill my duty
Won’t leave the devil two idle hands
And so, such is the life of the company man

Well I need somewhere to show up to
Someone to curse my name if I’m not there
Cause a life null and void of direction is too much to bear
I’m not mindlessly taking orders
But I try not to step out of line
So long as they hold up their end of the deal, I’ll hold to mine

Cause I’ve got a roof and food on the table

But I’ll do my darndest to avoid all contention
